gnome 1.4 installation problems

Hi,

I downloaded all the packages from ftp.ximian.com and followed the instructions for the installation from a local media. But when the installer tries to connect to the internet, he sais something like "can't resolve host" or similar. But I'm able to browse the internet as usual, so why can't the installer connect to it?

If you've downloaded all the packages, I don't think you need to run the installer or connect to the internet. If you downloaded RPM packages, just install all the packages. I've done that in Slackware before.

From the directory with the packages in it just do something like rpm -Uvh *.rpm and everything should install.
