Go back to XFree86 3.3.6 in LM 8.0

I'm having some problems with XFree86 4.0.3 that require me to go back to XFree86 3.3.6 in Mandrake 8.0. I've tried telling it to use 3.3.6 in Mandrake Control Center and updating Mandrake but I'm still running 4.4.3. So is there any way of setting this manually so I don't have to completely reinstall ?

What do you need the older version for? I was going to do the same thing in Slack -current, but Patrick V. told me I could just use the SVGA X server binary from 3.3.5/6 in 4.03... haven't tried it yet, but I believe it will work....

A user is running some mapping software off an HP-UX machine and only gets blue lines on his maps. I'm told that it is not a problem when running XFree86 3.3.6.
