i dont wanna sound dumb on this, ive been a gnome puritan since using linux but now i have discovered the increadible fluxbox.
1.how do you logout from within fluxbox? (i use the gnome login manager)
2. where do you get all the little system monitors and stuff that i always see on peoples screenies?

Right click and select Exit from the menu.
As far as the dock apps, they're just dock apps from another WM that you can run (I think its WindowMaker).
They make it look really cool....

Also, go to fluxbox.sourceforge.net as the documentation there is very good and will answer most questions. Also there are some good links on where to get dockapps and how to use them. :)

sorry, i have no exit in any of the menus when i right click!

Find your fluxbox menu and init files with something like locate menu | grep fluxbox and locate init | grep fluxboxcopy them to ~/.fluxbox/. Edit the init file to point to the new menu file and add:
[exit] (Exit) to the menu file.

Exit could be right click>window managers>exit.
gkrellm as mentioned above is a super little manager/monitor app. You can set it to mount devices (cdrom, dvd, floppy, etc). It can monitor your mail. With gkrellmlaunch plugin you can set a bunch of quick launch buttons for your favorite apps.
Fluxbax is wonderful and I wouldn't change without being paid a substantial amount of money!
