Here is a shot of my desktop:

I am running Fluxbox, using the MerleyKay theme that was installed with it by default, and the background to this theme is what you see in my Eterm window - a little black and blue cross-stitch pattern. I also have fluxbox run bsetbg on startup, changing the background to what you see as my wallpaper. I thought that if I ran Eterm --trans it would show my wallpaper that I set, but obviously that's not the case. Does anybody know of a way to fix this, or any workarounds?

Try using wmsetbg instead of bsetbg. If it still doesn't work then you can always use aterm.
