I have installed linux on my PC but i cant make X to work.
It seems that my monitor and video card are not supported (yes im a poor guy ).
I would like to know if i still can use the GUI or if i will have to live with the old
and loved command line. ( please help me, i dont want the command line :) ).

I use a SiS 5595 (620) (the ones that apperar in the list are: 5597, 5598, 6326)
and my monitor is GoldStar StudioWorks 44m (in the list: LG StudioWorks 45i
LG StudioWorks 55i
LG StudioWorks 57i
LG StudioWorks 57m
LG StudioWorks 77i
LG StudioWorks 77m)

I would really appreciate some help.

PS: sorry about my english (i speak spanish)

I ment the list that appears when installing
linux (a spanish version of Reh Hat) or running the Xconfigurator.

Based on the information you have provided, I would have to inquire as to what version of XF86 are you using. I just checked to most recent documentation at http://www.xfree86.org . The SiS 620 appears to be supported by both versions 3.3.6 and 4.2. Make sure you are up-to-date.

Relative to you monitor, I would recommend providing the horizontal and vertical refresh rates and not worrying about explicitly selecting a montitor model.

Take a look at the XFree86 docs. They provide much information that I believe would be very helpful to you.

I hope this helps.
