i downloaded a theme for GTK and installed it.. it works, but all it does is change my colours in GNOME... the screenshot shows windowblind changes, button changes, and such... but all it did was change text colours and such. i'm using iceWM... do i have to set something up in ice or will it not work with ice... ice has a default windiwblind setting, so i downloaded the GTK theme that matches it as closely as possible so that is doesn't look like vomit...

for icewm do this:

create a directory to dump all of your gtk themes in.
then copy the gtkrc file in that theme to your home directory.
then add the following line to the beginning of the .gtkrc file

pixmap_path "/the/directory/where/you/put/the/theme"

you should already have a .gtkrc file in your home directory if you have used gnome.

i'm in gnome, and in /home/dave (my user) and there is no sign of gnome whatsoever....
i'm guessing that gtkrc is the same as step.rc for litestep?
but i can't seem to find it

they're hidden files.
for gnome you should have something like this:
.gnome (directory)
.gnome-desktop (directory)
.gnome-private (directory)
.gtkrc (file)

if they're not there it's no big deal just make a .gtkrc file and copy whatever gtk theme gtkrc file into it.
then include that line i mentioned in the previous post.

Optech - Its possible the theme uses a theme engine you don't have installed. You should have the following themes by default (I think):
Default
Metal
Notif
Pixmap
Redmond95
Step
Thinice.
