Transparent. You know the background to the test for the desktop icons? How do I turn them transparent like I can in KDE?

Right click on the desktop, then choose the bottom choice, I can't remember what it is, I think it is desktop configuration. When you do this a box will appear with a box showing the position of the icons on you desktop..Choose "Shaped Text" from the options......

It depends on the version of GNOME..
if you're running the older (non-helix) gnome then do what five40i said but click on "Shaped Icons" then go into the GMC and click on settings/preferences/Desktop and click the "shaped Text"

In Helix you can do it all by right clicking the Backround and Desktop Configuration...

How do I change the icon font color ?

I ain't figured that one out yet. I would like to change the color as well as I have a rather dark picture as my wallpaper and the black fonts just don't show up.....
