Gnome freezes... constantly

Anyone else having this problem?

More specifically it's the panells that freeze. Does anyone know how to fix this, or restart the panells without shutting down Gnome.

try this.

$ killall panel && panel &
^-- at your xterm/aterm/whateverterm prompt.

I had this problem but it seems to have disappeared with the latest Helix Code. If you do update it, then try deleting your .gnome directories (backup your desktop and other stuff tho).

All right, I upgraded Gnome. But the panels still freeze every so often and when i use the killall panel && panel & to start them again, it just kills them. no restart.

i'd really rather not switch to KDE seeing as how I was raised in Gnome http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
