I'm the only person who uses my computer and since I dualboot I want to avoid typing in passwords.
How can I have my user automatically login? Can I do this with KDE2?
Thanks
I searched in this forum for 'auto login' and my question wasn't answered. I searched on google too. No luck.

Probably, but just don't.
Even if the solution does exist, I'm pretty sure it's not something very simple.

I think there's an option in the kontrol panel under the session section, but it's been along while since I used KDE. But, as Strike says, just don't :)

When I installed Mandrake 8.1, it had an option for automatic login, and I set it to use that to log in as my user (not root) without having to enter a password. So, it's definitely possible, but I wouldn't know how to go about setting it up.

If you must  :) it is simple in KDE.
Auto Login to KDE can be set in KDE Control centre as system/Login Manager/Convenience
If you use Mandrake (8.1 anyway)you can set the initial login to any desktop or window manager you like via Mandrake Control Centre.

s3raphim,
The suggestion above about kdm works. They mentioned KDE but the part that does the autologin is KDM I think. KDM, while part of the KDE system, allows you to use any window manager. One of my options is to start enlightenment. You could also try GDM or XDM but as far as I could tell XDM didn't have an option for autologin. The only problem might be congiruing KDM from enlightenment but I'll bet you most of the options are saved in a text file and that you don't even need KDE to alter it.
So my suggestion is to use KDM, which allows for autologins without passwords- and it's a great way to choose users and environments from the start.
