Normally when compiling KDE I first compile kdesupport ... then libs, then base. Now there is no kdesupport, so what is the proper order for compiling.

According to KDE, when upgrading from KDE 2.0 to 2.0.1, the steps were: rpm -F *.rpm rpm --rebuilddb update-menus -v Assuming, you've got the RPM's. That doesn't work (at least, not for me) with 2.1. I keep getting a "...needs libkscan.so.1" error... when trying to install kdeaddutils... www.kde.org (http://www.kde.org) seems to be down, so I can't even access their site for info. Rob geoff-b 12-22-2000, 12:53 AM I just assumed (dangerous, I know...) that kdesupport had not changed. I compiled kdelibs and then kdebase and it's working fine. I can tell you from experience that if you just compile/install kdelibs but don't compile kdebase, and then try to restart KDE, it will not work - it will barf (sorry for the technical terms http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif ) and then kick you back to kdm (or gdm or whatever). geoff ------------------ If these walls could talk, I'd listen to the floor - Rev.
