Is there a way to get rid of the panel at the top of GNOME in 1.4? Its beginning to really bother me, I want it gone.

right-click on panel -> Panel -> Remove this panel...

That, or I'm blind. I've looked many times before for a simple way to remove it...

Its shaded out, and I can't use it. Maybe I should recompile GNOME?

Edit: After deleting ~/.gnome, ~/.gnome-desktop and ~/.gnome_private it works. Hmmm... strange.
