I am running Mandrake 7.1 using the KDE desktop. How do I disable DPMS? I've tried the 'Settings'-'Desktop'-'DPMS' suggested by a few forums, but I don't have a 'DPMS' setting under 'Desktop'.I've also tried the following commands.

xset dpms till off

but they don't seem to work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try commenting it out in XF86Config. It should listed under the monitor setting

Newbie question, but is there a man on XF86Config? Thanks

Yes, there is. In SuSE 7.0, at any rate. If at all possible, try to use "XF86Setup" instead. Much nicer! "XF86config," or"..Config" has never worked for me, in at least five "brands" and ten distros.
