I think the reason is simple: $$$$$$$. I'm sure the guy didn't just walk away from Linux. He was compelled by the almighty dollar.

Do u also think that it may have been because of possible Linux sector becoming less stable job wise? I mean for high executives. Because the techies will always be in demand since TurboLinux depends on the programmers. The vice president couldn't code probably?

For the most part, the way I view these upper level execs is that they are hired to come in and get things set up, then leave when they are no longer needed or get a better offer. These type of professionals are not rooted and get anxious about sitting in one place for too long. The other, less abundant type, are those former programmers who have the know-how, they just got tired of punching keyboards and found a better way to express their creative energies.
