gui irc alternative to xchat

i've really like hanging around in #linuxhelp on openproject.net, but xchat just makes my system unstable. i've tried the stable versions and the development versions with the same result. i like all of the features of xchat, but i don't like rebooting so often. so does anyone know of a good gui irc alternative? thanks in advance.

Ksirc (very simple gui client) and kvirc come to mind.

Why is xchat causing you to reboot? I have no problems with it...

kvirc is what I use. v1.0.0. v2 seems a bit bloated. I did well with *****X, too, but could never get past the name and so dropped it. Zircon was a waste of time.
