I have redhat 7 and whenever i try to connect to the ftp server it goes:
STATUS:> Connecting to 192.168.100.1
STATUS:> Connecting to 192.168.100.1 (ip = 192.168.100.1)
STATUS:> Socket connected. Waiting for welcome message...

It sits tehre for around 3 min then it goes throuh and connects, but by then most ftp programs times out when waiting for it to connect. If there is anyway to speed it up please help...

Thank you

obvously, this has something to do with the timeout length on one of the machines. Check your ftpd.conf file and change the keep-alive timeout to something longer. If this doesn't work, it may be a system problem. Luckily, PowerTweak has finally gone to v0.99 (http://powertweak.sourceforge.net/) so you can change the settings that way.
