when I click on the foot thing one of the programs I installed put a menu in my favorites folder..but I uninstalled the program and it left the menu still there..how do I get rid of it? I tried right clicking and edit menu but favorites are not listed in the menu/panel editior.

It's in Programs/Settings/Desktop/Panel
The fourth tab is for the menu where you can select what you want displayed (Including Favorates and KDE menus)

Ok that lets me turn the favorites completly off..but how do I just get rid of one thing in the favorotes menu?

Did you try right-clicking on that item that needs removed and select remove?

First update the locate database using

updatedb

and then search the filesystem for one of those menu items using

locate <name of favorite>

Hopefully that will find the location if it doesn't reside within a file itself.

I logged in as Root and just right-clicked on foo program, and it was an option to remove it from the Gnome foot panel.

Of course, don't make a hobby of loggin' in as Root to do things.
