okay, so I use courier as my fixed font and verdana as my variable width font (and boy did it take me ages to find the dialog to change those settings!)

BUT

when I print an email out (default redhat lpr to jetdirect) it prints in some curly joined-up writing font that is really not readable, and definitely not courier!!!

how the hell do I get Evolution to do WYSIWYG printing??

I don't think it's a font substitution issue, plus emails print fine from kmail (but I can't use kmail since it doesn't support ldap yet, and netscape messenger please don't afflict me)

anyone got any ideas of things I could check? Redhat 7.3, printer config'd with the redhat lpr system util, test page is perfect.

well, it looks like it was some spurious gnome/gnome-print/evolution/ttf font issue

if I select to print a non-ttf font, it all seems to look okay.

i hope gnome2 makes fonts as easy to manage as KDE3
