anyone besides me use this for email?

It never works right for me, when I press the reply button nothing happens half the time and the program locks up and I have to Kill it...and then I can't get it to start up again unless I reboot.

I think I am using version 1.3 it came with mandrake 8.1. should I get a new version? is there one?

I'm sure there would be a newer version by now. I've never used Evolution myself or know much about it.

Try Google searching or go to the Evolution website to check for a new version.

I've used evolution on and off for about four months and like it alot but it does tend to seg fault often. Since updating to version 1.0.3 in debian I have had alot less problems. I had many problems with 1.0.2. Ximain Evolution is up to version 1.0.5 at the moment so I would recommend that you upgrade.

the version in mandrake 8.1 is real buggy and often locks up your system. I'd use the version in 8.2

This here is trus, I actually had problems with both Mandy 8.0 and 8.1 but seems to work flawlessly in 8.2.

Also Im sure you could kill the other evo processes that keep it from coming back up without rebooting.

ps -aef|grep evol

should list several evolution processes when it hangs this way.

I've never had any problems with evolution, and I've been using it exclusivly for the last 4 months. Although I never leave it open, I start it check my mail and log off (gkrellm lets me know when I have new mail so I don't have to do this often at all). I'm Using Red Hat 7.2 and Ximian Red Carpet to update everything...not one problem, works great. I could say some things about Mandrake, but I've never used it so I won't :p

I am running 1.0.5 and it once told me I had to exit and restart.

Other than that, it has worked great for me and I leave it running all the time.

It seems to be working again for me. Yesterday though it wouldn't work for @#$@. guess I'll stick with trusty old pine and the terminal.haha.

The version in Mandy 8.1 is 0.13.
The version in 8.2 is 1.03. You need to upgrade.

Early on in the development cycle, there were some hangs. I haven't seen that in a long time. However, when that was happening, it also installed a binary named "killev" which sought out and stopped anything it was using. Also, there is an "oaf-slay" command, to kill all of that off. Between these 2, used with caution, there should be no reason to ever reboot to get it going again. HTH, Ray
