Ok, I'm confused with the GNOME mime types. I installed Netscape 6 recently and wanted to change the default for opening htm, html files from my computer.
I have entered "/usr/local/netscape/netscape %f" on the open line in the mime edit dialog. Well this does not work. It returns an error "Cannot open "file" with /usr/loca//netscape/netscape %f". I tested from a command line with
# /usr/local/netscape/netscape "filename.html"
and this works fine. The netscape above is actually just a little script that kicks off mozilla-bin from the same folder. I also tried using mozilla-bin in the mime type open command to no avail.
I find little help when searching for mime type on the internet. The HOWTOs are very thin on info and other pages bring up the mime type inconsistencies between GNOME and KDE. Who knows how to make this work? Is there a good source of info somewhere for setting up new mime-types?
