I went to ftp.us.kernel.org and found all the latest kernels and all. How do I know which one is the latest stable version? I'm using 2.2.14 now. There were some pre-releases in 2.3.
While I'm on updates, I'm running KDE 1.1.2. Whats the advantage of going to 2.1?
Thanks

On the homepage (http://www.kernel.org) The latest stable (2.4.2 today) and dev (2.4.3) kernels are listed. Read any new documentation before you decide to install the kernel. I went from 2.2.10 -> 2.4.2 with no major trouble. Just remember to _READ_ first ;) It's very important to make sure you have certain versions of applications _before_ you use the newest kernel!

I up'ed KDE also (after the kernel upgrade) The UI is smoother and seem quicker. Many new features and over-all, it's just more stable. As before, read the upgrade documentation (http://www.kde.org/documentation/index.html) completely before you upgrade.
