I am using slackware 7.1 and when i try and update the kernel I always get a kernel panic error that says my disk driver not found or something to do with hardrive i am guessing. Any ideas that might help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What type of harddrive is it (SCSI/IDE)?

Usually it gives that error if you forget to add the driver that you need for you drive type in the kernel.

Usually, IDE is default as on but you would have to specify which SCSI Low level driver you need to fire up the SCSI card and then that would give access to your SCSI harddrive.
