help getting sound to work on Real Player and Aktion

I have Mandrake 7.1 installed. After installing it I intalled the rpm for Real Player 7. Well when I go to run real player, it gives me an error message that the audio device is already being used. Well I am not using the audio device, no software is running that I know of that is using the audio device. I know my soundblaster card works because I can play .wav files on it and it works when I test it on drake config.
Also I have no sound on Aktion, the movie player. So maybe someone knows what I need to do to get sound.

Hi:

I'll assume you're running Netscape. First, did you go to ->preferences ->navigator ->applications and edit all the RP stuff to %s (as opposed to %u) ?

If so, then go to console as root and type chmod 666 dev/dsp

Good Luck, repost if still stuck. You may also need to go to RP preferences and enable esd, but will ten have to go to console and start esd

I tried what you suggested. Did all the steps. Didn't work. Still no sound for Aktion or Real player. When I load real player I still get the same message like audio device is being used by somthing else.
When I change the netscape settings, do i take out the "" around where I put the s in place of the u? I left the "".

any more suggestions? I am trying to load an esound update for Mandrake 7.1 from an ftp site, if I can get it downloaded.
