I know where the programs are on my HDD, but I want to make some shotcuts on my desktop that have the icon. Can someone tell me how?
The two programs are Unreal Tournament, in Netscape (Nutscrape) 6.0 http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/cool.gif

In kde, right-click the mouse on the background, then select application.
When it says 'new application', type in the name you want attached to the icon. Hit ok.

Another box should appear. Select the execute tab. Type in the link to the file. Gnome should work in a similar way.
