I've installed Linux 2.2.12-20 on an older machine in my house, and would love to give it network capabilities, but my 4-port hub is full :( I've got a null-modem cable, and am going to set up a SLIP network between my linux box & a windows 98 one. The config for the linux box seems straitfoward enough, but where can I get drivers to install on the windows end?

I've been searching for info to do SLIP or PLIP from linux to windows but have found little. Most of what I found indicates it is nearly impossible. Windows just doesn't seem to have SLIP/PLIP other than in the direct cable connect wizzard, which of course doesn't work in linux.

<UPDATE>I found this (http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue41/smyth.html) link. It pretty much describes how to emulate a modem in windows. It was done between RH 5.2 and Win95. I haven't tried it myself but plan on doing so....when I find my PLIP cable.

Well, I can login to my linux box using hyperterm, but when I try to establish a PPP connection, I get (from windows pre-dial terminal screen):
-pppd: Must be root to run -pppd, since it is not setuid root
Any ideas?
