mount issue

I would like to have my dos partition mounted so that I can write to it as both root and as a user. In fstab, both the user and rw options are specified, but it still gives me permission errors when I try to write to it and I'm not root. Is there another option I'm missing? I thought this was the whole point of the "user" option. Thanks.

Specifying the user option in fstab only allows the user to mount the drive.

Check your mount point and make sure that it is writeable by a regular user.
