Hello everyone,
I am running a slackware 8 with 2.4.14 kernel and I am havng troubles finding the correct drivers for my isdn adapter, does anyone know which is the correct driver for tipa-p adapter?
Soemone told me that I should select hisax cards and then the winbond drivers when I compiled the kernel.I did but when I try to insmod Hisax type=36 I get errors.
can anyone help me?

Ok then. What errors do you get when you insmod hisax type=36?

Check this out:
bash-2.05# insmod hisax type=36
Using /lib/modules/2.4.14/kernel/drivers/isdn/hisax/hisax.o
/lib/modules/2.4.14/kernel/drivers/isdn/hisax/hisax.o: init_module: Input/output error
/lib/modules/2.4.14/kernel/drivers/isdn/hisax/hisax.o: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO
or IRQ parameters

Try these Google search results (http://www.google.com/linux?site=search&restrict=linux&hl=en&q=isdn+hisax&btnG=Google+Search) as you may find a way to load the module with the correct irq and i/o. It is also suggested to disable PnP OS in the bios for pci based systems.
The answer could be to use a alias in /etc/modules.conf to assign the correct resources for the isdn card. Hopefully the Google results will have something.

Besides Google, also try other search engines and search for ?? linux isdn
Your distros or other distro websites could have documentation on setting up isdn. There may be even specific sites just on Linux and isdn as there are for linmodems, usb etc.
Try the documentation installed with the kernel source. There could be something on isdn that may help.

Well I managed to load the modules at last!!!(YupiYAYA)
I unplugged the adapter and read what was on the chip and discovered that...it was an HFC-S A 28DS0 based card and not Winbond based(I will kill this friend of mine...).
Know I'm trying to dial to my isp and I believe that this is gonna be the difficult part.
I read somw how to's, created the necessary config files but I stiil can't get online.

Glad to hear you finally got the modules to load. Always look yourself to see what model you have instead of listening to friends. Guess you already know that.
Same as I suggested before. Try searching for Linux isdn and I'm sure you will find something to help with setting up dialing etc.
