Else just mount your cdrom using the commandline. mount -t iso9660 /dev/hd? /mnt/cdrom where ? is you actual device. If your cdrom is setup correctly in /etc/fstab, then you will only need to mount using mount /mnt/cdrom In both cases, unmount before removing the actual cd first using umount /mnt/cdrom Meester Woowis 11-08-2001, 07:01 AM You can do it a number of ways. It is nice to have an easy peasy buttong to click that brings up a window with cdrom contents. But you don't so it requires being a sleuth. Even if you can get a window up you wil need to make sure the drive is "mounted". Funnily enough on my Red Hat machine I cannot eject the cd unless I have "unmounted" the cd drive. Follows really. Can you run any file managing program? If you can then you will find the contents of the drive (as long as it is "mounted") in the directory called cd-rom in a directory called mnt (which means mount!) If you want to be hyper techno then you can use the command line. If there is no option to open a console window thenpress ctrl and shift and F5 (or F2, F3, F4, F6)and login. Then type:- cd /mnt/cd-rom/ and then type ls Hope that thats not too complicated( :p ) jacktux 11-08-2001, 11:17 PM Well, well, well....I right clicked on my cdrom and found mount. I clicked on that and...BAM!!!! It built its driver<kernal??> and now it works.....8.1 seems very easy<sort of> to operate.. :D justlinux.com
