hp 7100e cd-rw parallel

I have a hp 7100e parallel port drive, and have it set up with parport, paride, epat, and pcd modules installed. Works fine, but when I set it up with pg (to write disks), and try to mount it, it says the device isn't a block device, and won't mount it. I can't seem to find a document that can help me.

Other information: Mandrake 8.0 updated, 666mhz amd w/300+ram, drive added after installation.

Any ideas about what I'm doing wrong? Thanks. :)
