depends on the motherboard, but normally you would need to use one or the other, not mix them on the same motherboard

almost all motherboards that take EDO will take fast page

as far a parity vs non-parity, most of the newer pentium level boards used non-parity, i'm not sure how many as a percentage accepted parity ram, which was more common on older, 486 boards

comes down to you should try to locate a manual for the motherboard , it will tell you zactly what will work or not

worse case, see if you can try/test the new ram before you buy

good luck! :)

Linux is very picky about ram. A post here not too long ago had a problem where they mixed EDO and FP ram and Linux would not install until the FP was removed.

I doubt your system will boot mixing parity and non-parity ram. Compaq's won't.

From what I've read at LNO and at other sites, yes you would be advised to use ALL the same memory beit EDO or FP for Linux to install or work properly.

If you are asking about purchasing more memory, the I wouldn't try mixing the types, but if you have the memory already, then just give it a try. If it doesn't work, then you haven't wasted the money.
