Hi!
I have installed Mandrake 8.0 on my system and it works really well, but I'm having trouble with my soundcard (SB Live!). Linux has detected 2 sound devices (taken from KDE Control Center):
* VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C666 [Apollo Super AC97/Audio]
* Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10000

The problem is that there is no sound at all. I think that Linux tries to output the sound to the first device it detected (VIA) which I even didn't know it existed (it's the motherboard's chipset???) How could I do that the default soundcard was the second device? Thanks! :)

Does the motherboard comes with built-in sound card? Most newer boards come with sound built in!

My motherboard is a QDI Kinetiz 7B without soundcard. What can I do to force Linux to use the device I want (my SB Live, of course)??

I don't know a thing about that motherbd. Nevertheless, MOST (warning, there) modern boards have a way in the BIOS setup to disable the on-board stuff. A few, however, make you do it with jumpers. See if you can cut off the VIA sound. Almost certainly, you will need to start fresh with the SB, as it's drivers are likely to have never been installed yet. But, there's plenty of help with that, here, it's a widely used card.
