When i install Mandrake 7.2 on my Toshiba Equium and run sndconfig, and go all the way throught the setup up it freezes. Then when ever i reboot and get to the login screen it just locks up any suggestions?

hello,
i would guess it is probling a modules which is not there or, more likely - a bad module.
try to recompile you kernel and then skip sndconfig - find out which tyoe of sound device you have, insert the module (aka driver)for it and try playing a sound. then you can edit /etc/modules.conf (or /etc/conf.modules, whatever mandrake uses)
