I'm in the process of constructing an "entertainment" machine which will basically just play mp3's and DVD's. I already have the Creative Encore DVD drive, w/ Dxr3 card, working in Windoze. Of course, I want the drive to work under any Linux distro, don't have my heart set on any specific one if that's what it takes. My main reasons are for Linux over Win is that Linux will let me be able to use lesser hardware (slower processor, less memory, etc with equal windoze results). I don't think Creative is offering any drivers, etc for Linux so I'm gonna need some help. I've a intermediate Linux user with most of my experience under Red Hat. What you mo fo think?
