since installing mandrake 8.0 (wish i hadn't, 7.2 worked like a dream) i can't use my cdrom or my cdr. i wasn't running the NFS daemon, and anytime i tried to access the cdrom it would hang, and the terminal would keep giving me a message about NFS at PID xxxx wasn't available (or something very similar). i started the NFS daemon to run at boot (or whichever daemon does that, anyway, i know i did that right), but now it just hangs without any message. it doesn't matter which of the drives i try, or which user i'm logged in as. /etc/fstab says that they are each set to supermount as fs=iso9660 and 0 0. i'd really like to get my cd drives back. and, if you have a guess, what happened to all my fonts? i seem to have MORE now, but i still get the really ugly, blocky, hard to read CRAP that used to be standard (LNO is almost unreadable, the headings at /. are almost unreadable).
TIA
