Now I believe I have thouroughly searched the posts to determine that nobody has answered the question of how to get a CDRW to work w/ USB. I have my CDRW working w/ a pcmcia card, but now that I have upgraded to RH 7.1 and the 2.4 kernel, I'm wondering if anybody has got their CDRW working w/ USB? After all, isn't that one of the things this new kernel is supposed to be good for? When I plug my CDRW in w/ USB, the computer seems to recognize it, (i.e. makes neto buzzes etc), and when I lsmod I see usb-storage, and usb scsi moduels loaded, but I can't figure out how to mount the drive. Do I need to modify my /etc/fstab like I did under PCMCIA? I insmoded ide-scsi to see if that would help, ran cdrecord -scanbus. No luck. Anybody done this?

Sorry to sound like such a newbie, (but hey this is linuxnewbie.org), but where would that be and how would I mount it?

Check the hardware lists at www.linux-usb.org (http://www.linux-usb.org)

My understanding is that some work and some do not.
