My monitor won't work..help???

[I AM SO NEWBIE]

HELP!! the monitor on my laptop won't work..well, HardDrake doesn't recognize the type of mointor thats in my laptop. It's a Compaq Armada 1570D. I've already searched the internet for info about the hardware of this computer. I just still haven't found anything.. Is there anone who has had the same problem?...or just the solution would do as well...

Your problem might not be with linux at all. Are there any "function" keys on your laptop that make it switch from internal monitor to external vga monitor? If so, maybe try that. Other than that, good luck.

Also, are you having problems with XFree86? or just the display?

Fortunately I got the problem solved by running Xconfigurator in /usr/X11R6/bin in console mode. It just worked...it didn't with drakres...but thnx anyways (with the linx u sent I can still learn a lot about linux).
I'm eehm...actually not sure if I have any problems with Xfree86 (don't really know that much about linux yet :)...)
