I need a cheap (less than $200) storage drive that can operate under linux and other x86 *nixs. I would prefer a 2GB capacity because the most I would back up would be about 10GB. I prefer IDE tape drives but any advice on what you think I should get or what you personally use will be helpful.
Thanks.

the cheapest $/mb backup is another hard drive through a network
all those tape drives/removable drives are more expensive than a plain old hard drive
if you need off site storage, get one of the kits to make the hd removable, they are cheap (like $20-$30)
you can get a 20gb hd for <$100, so you can't beat that, plus it is faster than most of the old fashioned (tape, zip, etc) media

My opinion on this is get a tape drive, no comment on which brand that can handle 20gb right off the bat which is very common today, 8 or 4mm, the tape will run you about max 40 dollars peice, and if your doing this for scheduled backup, i would go with this. drives, thats not my specialty
