2 NICS -- Wacky question

Ok, I just bought 2 NICs, the same make and model. When I do put them in.. How am I going to know which one is going to eth0 and eth1? Is it just going to be matter of trial and error?

The first one detected by order of the pci slots will be eth0.

If you have one nic in the first pci slot, then that will be eth0 and then the next will be eth1. It should work like that.

Oh, and you will need to check with your motherboard manual, but on most, slots 4&5 are a bad idea to use. On most Mobo's, 4&5 share and irq.
