hi :)
I’ve been having some trouble sorting out my modem and Internet configuration for Linux-mandrake 8.
I’ve got an Origo 56000 modem (external), every time I boot into Linux and use diskdrake to find new hardware-nothing is detected. I’ve made sure that all cables are connected properly but still no modem is detected. Is it possible for some one to help me out :) at the moment im kinda clueless

Lucky me as I've never had to setup a modem with Linux. All ethernet at home and work.

Being that I have no modem experience, I can only point you to the Modem NHF (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/modems/modem-how-to.html) as it covers isa and external modems. Hopefully it's enough to get you going.

External as in serial port?

I'm not sure how the internet connection wizard works but, you can always set it up in kppp.

You just need to specify the com port it is on. Com1 is /dev/ttyS0 , com2 is /dev/ttyS1 and so on.
