I have a visiontek geforce 2 mx 400 video card. do I need to install the nvidia linux drivers for this? the visiontek website is sketchy on info, and the nvidia website doesn't say anything. has anyone done this?

Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Visiontek geforce 2 mx 400 and nvidia linux drivers Danger Fan 10-05-2001, 03:46 PM I have a visiontek geforce 2 mx 400 video card. do I need to install the nvidia linux drivers for this? the visiontek website is sketchy on info, and the nvidia website doesn't say anything. has anyone done this? methadone 10-07-2001, 11:18 AM alright, this is as simple as installing 2 packages and making 2 changes in your XF86Config download http://www.nvidia.com/docs/lo/1005/SUPP/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-1541.tar.gz and http://www.nvidia.com/docs/lo/1017/SUPP/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-1541.tar.gz untar them, and go into each of them as root and type make (done and done in section 1) hehe now edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config with your favourite editor and uncomment where it says # Load GLX (remove the # from in front of it) then scroll down a bit and change the driver from "nv" to "nvidia" save and exit and you're done :) enjoy. Danger Fan 10-08-2001, 03:00 PM yeah, i got the files and everything, I just wasn't sure if they were for just the nvidia flavor of geforce, or all. it is for all. but i can't get the drivers to install properly. oh well, tackle that one later. justlinux.com
