I'm having some problems with my screen in Linux.
The screen is the one I got with my computer (Cibox), extremely crappy (black fades to red and blue on the edges), and was set to 1024x768 in 32bit at 60hz in Windows.
Now, when I installed Mandrake, the closest option that worked was the 1024x768 Generic Laptop Display. But now it seems that I cannot change the settings through the Mandrake Control Center - whatever resolution, display or depth I choose, it gives off an error. Also, the screen isn't shown in the same place as in Windows: It's a bit to the right. Move it to the left, and the Windows screen is too far to the left.

I would really like to get these oddities solved before I download nVidia's drivers for my GeForce 2 Ti.

Maybe the nvidia drivers will fix these oddities.

You can try Xvidtune to adjust the display position.

No, it's nobody's fault. :p

I am running a Nvidia GF2MX. And yes, the position in X is slightly off. Nothing the good ol' xvidtune can't do. Run it in terminal, adjust, show/display the results and copy and paste them in XF86Config-4. RestartX.
