Mandrake 8.0 can't find NIC

Hello,
Just installed Mandrake 8.0 from scratch. It looks like it hasn't discovered my NIC -- HardDrake 0.9.3 list nothing under "Network Device Cards".
I had an earlier version of Linux installed, and it found the NIC. Had a version of Windows installed, and it found the NIC and got its address from the LinkSys router.

Any suggestions on how to get Mandrake 8 to find my NIC? I suppose I'll have to open the case and try to figure out what brand and model it is...

Swapped out the Netgear 10/100, put in an old 3Com, and it's up and running.
Now, if I can somehow get the Linux box's name to be recognized by the LinkSys DSL router...
