I wanted to see about installing Linux once again on my machine, however I have two 40gigs setup on an ata100 raid, can I place linux on that setup or must I find another hdd and stick it on the pri. ide channel?

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Well, you would have to disable the RAID in the HPT370 controller on that board. Linux isn't too keen about that form of hardware raid that the HPT370 have. (More or less like the infamous winmodems).

Just set the first drive as bootable, and you are set to go :)

On the other hand, if you already have Windows set up on raid configurated drives, you may want to consider backing up a lot of files, and do the whole Windows install again - 'unraided'

Hope that helps? :)

What if i placed a spare drive onto my ide controller, (im not touching my raid, it's 3/4 full, other than buying a tapedeck, how would i back up 60 gigs???) anyhow, if I placed another drive on my ide controller and placed only linux on it. That should work correct? And what would be the best way of going about making it dual boot? Going through NTloader or could lilo possibly handle that?
