I have a HP computer that boots with a big blue HP splash then loads LILO, etc. How do i get to the BIOS? Its not in my manual. I'm guessing its DEL or something.

Thanks

I would try hitting F1, F2, Del, and F10 (not at the same time) just shortly after turning on the computer. These are the 4 different ways to get to BIOS that I have seen.

My Acer Aspire uses: <ctrl><alt><esc>

I have seen others that just use <esc>

you may have to change a jumper inside the computer just to access the bios
which also means voiding the hp warranty
funny that big white HP logo ain't it
i had to do this when working on my g/f's computer a while back.
Darn big name resellers make us tweakers lives hard.
take care

No, I have an HP Pavilion with that BSOD-like splash screen. I can get into the BIOS without changing any jumpers.

Of course, now I'm drawing a blank as to which Fn key I need to press. I think it's either F1 or F10, possibly F8. Like MandK_10 says, just try them out.

The DEL key is used by computers from Dell. Apparently it's a name-brand recognition thing.

I just got into the bios on a HP pavilion machine tonight and I pressed f1 f2 f10 and del in consective order I think it is either f1 or f2 because the first time I tried f10 and del it did not work.

Wouldn't HP have something on their site to tell you this? They should have something on their support site.

Most HP Pavilions use F1 to get into the BIOS. I checked the HP website to verify this. The Brio business PC uses F2
Give F1 a try when the splash screen comes up.
