Ok, I got a problem here. ADSL, bellsouth, they have no support for linux. So I am out of luck. Or maybe,

How do I get my ADSL modem to connect? When I do auto detect it says it comes up with LAN/Connection. And it is not, it is adsl. And it doesn't work? I got dns, and dhcp servers for my area. Can anyone please explain how to get this to work. Thanks

ADSL is a popular subject here at LNO. Since I have never used adsl, I would suggest you do a search in the appropriate forums and you will most likely find the solution.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Hopefully others with adsl experience will be able to assist you.

There is a DSL and possibly a ADSL how-to at www.linuxdoc.org (http://www.linuxdoc.org) that may help.

No problem. What hardware do you have? I have BSFA here in Key West and used to run the "Stingray" USB modem to connect under both Win2K and Linux. Power draw issues with Stingrays and multiprocessors caused me lots of headaches (and crashes) until I picked up a Netgear RT314 router and an Alcatel 1000 ethernet ANT (modem). Here are some links that you might find to be interesting and helpful.

Linux DSL (http://members.home.net/linux-dsl/)
Roaring Penguin PPPoE (http://www.carricksolutions.com/linuxpppoe.htm)
Alcatel's USB Drivers (Including Linux) (http://www.alcatel.com/consumer/dsl/supuser.htm)

Tell me what hardware you are using and I'll post some better links for you.

Did you try any of the links posted for you? They should be of some help.

Anything at 3Com as they are quite good at supporting Linux?

This link gives info on setting up DSL using Caldera's Openlinux, but may be of help.
