Mine is an HP N5210 so it should have a lot of the same hardware. I installed Mandrake 8 and every piece of hardware was detected just fine. The only problem I had was with the video card. If you are in windows go to device manager and see what the display adapter is. It should be S3 Savage. When you install Mandrake 8 choose expert install. When you get to the "Configure X" section it will ask you which version of XFree86 you want to install. Choose the 3.XXX, the older version. When I tried the newer version the computer would freeze constantly and it took me a week of reading these message boards to figure out how to solve the problem. Once I made that change the computer runs beautifully. I hope this helps you out. Then use Lilo with a graphical boot menu. If you are not happy with Drake, it is then easy enough to delete the partition with partition magic and sys /mbr the harddrive with a winME boot disk. Just go for it :) justlinux.com
