I've been trying to get my modem recognized in COL 2.3 and it just won't happen. I have all packages installed, using kde as desktop. When I try getting online with kppp, it tells me that it can't find my modem. I followed the instructions in the modem NHF and it stalls at the point after going through the isapnp.conf and uncommenting the lines necessary. The first problem is that in the isapnp.conf, after pnpdump, there is no line that has the IRQ needed - I need IRQ 4 and it only offers IRQ 3. So I made some changes to convert one of the 3's to a 4. After doing so and running isapnp, I get a conflict message, but trying the fix offered in the NHF does not do anything to cure the problem. I think I have a resource conflict between my modem and network card. I have thought about removing the network card, then reinstalling, but I want to save that as a last resort.
My problem is that I do not know how to find out the resources being used by the network card. I tried searching for a file with "eth" in it and get nowhere.
Bottom line: I guess I need some help finding the configuration file for the network card, or a program that will identify the resources being used by different pieces of hardware and then how to disable or shut down the network card - 'cause I don't need it right now.
It's not my modem, which is a Cardinal 33.6 voice/fax modem - the same modem works on another one of my boxes that does not have a network card.
The network card is a Microdyne which I believe emulates an NEC2000 network card.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
