Hi

I know that there are some previous threads on this, but Linux support for printers seems to change daily and the printer manufacturers ship new boxes every week so....

Whats currently, the best supported, high quality printer under linux. I am looking in the region 500 - 1000 DM = 170 - 300 UK Pounds.

I want to use it for high quality black and white and colour prints (photo's) I have looked at the deskjet Photo P1100 and the Epson Stylus 870 which would seem to fit the bill, but I read various stories about how well linux supports them.

I am running Mandrake 7.1 (Kernel 2.2.16).

Regards

My Lexmark 5700 inkjet makes great prints in linux. It is supported out of the box in 'Drake 7.2 or you can dowload/compile your own/ rpms. I bought mine for $200 US. But is now about $100 give or take. Susposedly the z51 uses the same drivers. There is also now a z52 but I don't know how well supported that is.
