How to play a DVD video?

Hello,

I am runnnig Mandrake 7.2 and I have a SAMSUNG COMBO SM-304B combi drive, and I would like to play DVD's with it. Please could anyone tell me how I can manage this with linux.

heh umm call the MPAA... you have them to thank for not being able to. It seems that an open source DVD player is illeagal. There could be ways to get it to work still try searching at google for "DeCSS" and read some of the documentaion there.

Actually you could check out www.linuxvideo.org (http://www.linuxvideo.org) they were working on LiVid they might have some documention that would be helpful... that is if they are not in court.

I just tried the www.linuxvideo.org (http://www.linuxvideo.org) OMS player a couple weeks ago. It compiled, but wouldn't install. This is a problem many people were having, so I decided to wait until the programmers figured that one out.

There are some good screen shots, and it looks promising.
