how to install WACOM art pad

I would like to use my WACOM art page with GIMP.

Before I start trying, can anyone tell me if it is worth trying to install Wacom Art Pad on Suse Linux 8.0? Any pointers, drivers?

I've seen mention of the Wacom when I've compiled my kernel.
