I'm thinking of getting a better video card for my desktop running suse 8. I currently have a Diamond Monster Fusion. My question is will the new card be recognized on the next boot or will I have to boot to the command line & run xconfigurator or sax2 etc.?

Thanks...

Also, the suse docs recommended turning the Plug-and-Play OS setting in the BIOS to OFF during install. I did, but then changed it back afterward. Will this have an effect on the system now?

Turn the PnP in the BIOS to off (this is not needed, most OS's have their own PnP and don't use the BIOS for this)
If SuSE is anything like Red Hat (uses anaconda for hardware detection) it should see the new card, ask to remove the old drivers and proceed with installing the new one.
It should be a reletivly painless process.
